I am a maker, a craftsperson and an anthropologist.    There is not much that I don’t find interesting in the mundane things we use and put aside and pick up again.  The tactile part of our lives is full of meaning that goes deep into our roots and our souls.  The cup we use to drink our daily tea or coffee is as interesting as the doormat or the favorite spatula.  The maker part of me loves to make things that are comforting and practical:  that cup for the daily tea or the small bag for a passport and deck of cards.    Why do we wear the same old hat over and over again?  Is it the comfort or the memories or the style?

I have spent my whole life, so far, making things and I have settled on ceramics, sewing and knitting as my main forms of making. That being said, I constantly pick up new ways to work and seek out new things to challenge myself and the world, however small. Do I have to talk about my years at schools or the people with whom I have worked?I don’t think that really matters, the MAKING and the CURIOSITY are what matter in my line of creativity. The grandmothers, the museums, the YouTube videos, the countless old books on “how-to”: they all add up to a brainfull and a quest for more information and more ideas. Pockets in just the right place and just the right size are what matter. The feel of a plate and how it it holds what it holds is what matters. The object as a tool for the happenings of life are what I am after to consider and create.
